I am not a professional politician;
I am just a regular American citizen. An American citizen, who is tired of seeing professional politicians squandering the last, best, hope for our generation. Government intrusion into our lives is reaching an all time high, and is going to get worse in the next two years.
The people of Missouri are fair and honest people who mostly want to be allowed to live their lives and raise their family as they see fit. They don’t need hoards of bureaucrats to tell them what to do and where to go. Just like the two Million people who assembled in Washington D.C. on Sept 12, 2009, we want our country back under the authority of the law of the land, the US Constitution.
People are tired of politics as usual. Recently my presence at a debate was objected to by a Republican candidate. Having a Democrat would have been no problem, but having an Independent was too much for him.
This is just one example of how party is more important to some of these people than our country. Also a second 7th district congressional debate that had been scheduled, had to be re-named as a primary debate when I asked if I was invited. (I wasn't)
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
I am Pro-2nd amendment. I know the founders included the right OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED for a good reason, to keep government in check. what part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do they not understand? I do support keeping violent felons from owning guns but that's about it. (they shouldn't vote either)
Government in its current form appears more closely established to establish blessings and welfare for special interest groups and lobbying firms, not the citizens who actually own it.
I propose that the people of southwest Missouri do not agree with these changes in our way of life, and as such we need to send more than just a message of “change” but actual changes for the better.
I support sending extra-constitutional government activities and institutions back to the states to be administered as they see fit. (or not)
We need to return power back to local officials, who better know the will of the American people. I would work to cut federal programs, but instead transition to local versions with local control.
I support efforts to eliminate the IRS,
Replace our impossible tax code with a simple system, such as the fair tax, or a flat tax. Also I think that after the extra duties of government are divested to the states, the federal tax rate should not exceed 10%. And should be equal for everyone. Basic needs of life should not be taxed. God only asks for 10%, why does Washington get 50%?
I support the real free enterprise system.
We have had too much government micromanagement of business, and too few examples of real free trade. I do not support anarchy or robber barons, there needs to be set, moral ground rules for business, but also a level playing field for all. Free trade is the engine that pays for our economy; it should not be unduly regulated.
I support states rights.
I believe that your state legislator should have more impact on your daily life, than your national representative. They are closer to you, and are more able to respond to local issues. National representatives should be Constitutionally concerned with international trade, tariffs, border security, monetary policy, not demanding you adjust you lifestyle to appease some well-funded interest group.
I was the first candidate in this (2010) race to sign the Missouri Sovereignty Project Pledge. Several have followed my lead and signed on since, and I congratulate them.
http://www.missourisovereigntyproject.com/
I am currently the only candidate to sign the national pledge.(2010)
http://pledge.tenthamendmentcenter.com/the-signers/
I support our national sovereignty.
We are the United States, not beholden to a larger global state, or other group. We need to be the final authority of how we interact in the world, the only authority of U.S. Soldiers and the final enforcer of our own borders. We do need to interact in the larger world, but not be controlled or influenced by them.
I support local education.
I used to teach private high school and know how it can be done well by caring teachers. Government control from Washington has ruined what was once the envy of the world. I support a national standard for graduation from each grade, and limited national testing, but local families need to be the final authorities over how education is administered.
I support a strong national infrastructure.
A strong national system makes a strong economy possible. I would support new private nuclear power plants, hydroelectric plants, stored hydroelectric, wind and solar, as well as geothermal. Wind and solar alone will do us no good, as they don’t work at night or on still days, but they can be used effectively to assist the existing power supply. I support clean coal, and support burying our power grid in a standardized manner to prevent outages caused by weather and accidents.
I support preserving and responsibly using our natural resources.
The oil, natural gas, coal, Timber, minerals and other resources we own here in the U.S. are ours. We can use them wisely to eliminate our need to import energy from hostile sources. We are the world leaders in doing this well, and cleanly with low impact and maximum concern for wildlife and other resources. We can do it well if allowed to do so. I am deeply troubled by the federal government seizing and buying land rich in natural resources to keep these natural resources off limit to the American people.
I support a strong military.
A strong military allows up to defend our interests here and abroad, defend our allies and support in times of international disaster. That military must forever be solely controlled by Constitutionally approved Americans, never by International forces or treaties.
Our troops need more support than yellow ribbons made in china.
I have several former students/former youth, serving overseas, and stateside. I am proud of these young men and women, they deserve better.
I support private health care.
Your health care should be between your doctor and you. Government shouldn’t be involved other than oversight on doctor’s education and licensing, and oversight of insurance companies to discourage any abuse. Itemized billing and restitution from fraud will do much more to bring down costs, and we keep the worlds best health system.
I support legal immigration.
I think it’s great that people want to be Americans. We need to make it possible for honest, hard working folks that want to share in the American way of life to be here legally. Criminal aliens on the other hand, need to be fined and deported. Costs associated with detaining and incarcerating criminal aliens and other costs need to be billed to the country of origin.
I support a strong criminal justice system.
We need to punish illegal activity with swift fair and consistent actions. I know much of this occurs at the state, but the federal system needs to be responsive to needs quickly, and with more adherence to their constitutional duties.
I support honest elections.
I believe that our elections and thus our way of life are being endangered by dishonest electioneering, fraudulent voting and widespread abuse. We need to ensure fair and honest voting. I support I.D. requirements, and cross checking voters to eliminate people who are not eligible to vote. I think people who are willing to cheat at the ballot box should pay a heavy price in fines and loss of voting privilege. I think that federal elections need to be consistent state to state, but that states are free to administer their own elections as they see fit. Military votes should never be disallowed in a federal election by local officials.
I support the environment.
We have done more to promote good stewardship of our land, sea, wildlife and air than any people on earth.
However our natural desire to protect our resources have been abused and hijacked by “environmental” groups that are only concerned with their own survival as a business, and worse yet, to reduce our standard of living to support their interests. I support removing "special standing" for environmental groups.
I am Pro-Life.
I believe that life begins when there is complete DNA present. I do not support the Roe vs. Wade decision. I have for many years held the position that has recently been termed "person-hood". I have always held the opinion that after complete DNA is present, that would indicate that a human being is present. If that human being happens to be an American, then denying that person life without due process would be a violation of that person's Constitutional rights.
I believe that Missourians can make better decisions for Missourians, than bureaucrats in Virginia.
I believe that the two party system has degraded to the point that parties and donors, not people are the priority in Washington D.C. these days.
Early 2010 polls were showing that the non-existent "tea party" was out polling the Republican party among folks that relate to a party. With people who don't vote with a party, but vote regularly, beat the two traditional parties by a wide margin 41% in a three way race. There is no "Tea Party" (yet) but the issues and solutions associated with the tea party are the same platform issues that I have been promoting here since March 2009.
I regret to believe that the Republican party is incapable of defending traditional conservative values and beliefs, and that it appears to be just playing along just enough to keep conservatives from leaving. Instead working in its best interest the majority of the time. The occasion where Rep. Wilson (R) S.C. called out "you lie!" during the Presidents speech, underscores my point. The outburst was of course a breach of decorum, and any rude behavior would be inappropriate, but the Republicans bent over back wards to distance themselves and chastise Rep Wilson before, and with stronger language than the Democrats did.
If the Republicans were in it for the country, they might have said, "Yes the outburst was inappropriate, but the content was accurate"
Instead their primary goal of getting along and trying to always play nice with the socialists won out, and Rep. Wilson was thrown under the bus.
The Republicans backed a liberal in NY 23. When it looked promising for the independent candidate, the republican drops out and endorses the Democrat. Party system first, not country first.
The recent election of Senator Brown in Massachusetts is further proof, Tea party folks worked tirelessly manning phone banks, hundreds of them here in Missouri. Republicans not so much, but as a Republican, even he hasn't been a great defender of the Constitution.
My reason for putting my life, and that of my family on hold, and running an active campaign, is not to work to further a party platform, but to serve the people of southwest Missouri. I am not interested in the trappings of power, but to restore our nation and society to its former self.
I promise not to buy a house in D.C. I will stay at an extended stay hotel, and return home on weekends when there is no vote. I will buy my own used car to use while there, and leave my car at the airport here. I intend to fly coach, and exist in Washington as inexpensively as possible, so as not to waste your hard-earned money. My intention for serving in office is to do the same thing, not waste your hard-earned money.
The following statement was approved by candidates participating in the closed-door strategy meeting at the Tenth Amendment Summit– February 25, 2010 in Atlanta Georgia
We The People of the several States created a federal government to serve as our limited agent, delegating to the federal government only those limited and few powers listed in the Constitution, and no others.
We recognize the federal government has seized unlimited power over virtually every aspect of Americans’ lives in violation of the Constitution of the United States, specifically with respect to the Tenth Amendment.
We call upon freedom-loving citizens everywhere to stand with us, as candidates for state and federal office, to pass meaningful and sensible legislation to restore the most critical check and balance deliberately designed into our constitutional republic: that of strong, sovereign states.
We pledge to limit and restrain all federal government exercise of power that exceeds in any way the plain language of those few powers listed in the Constitution and to nullify all others that exceed such limit.
When we restore the balance of power between the states and the federal government according to the Constitution, our country will enjoy the dynamic blessings of liberty and prosperity.

The Constitution of The United States is a legal contract between the States and the Federal Government who created it, and the People. If you print it with all the Amendments on legal paper, its about half the size of a typical home mortgage. It is smaller than the preamble of most bills presented in Congress.
The Federal government is only allowed to do a select few things. If it were doing only those things, we would not be bankrupt today, and your children and grandchildren would be facing a brighter future.
