Immigration
The United States became a world superpower because the prospect of freedom attracted the most motivated people from every country and society on earth. We need to celebrate and encourage this to continue.
People who cannot or will not assimilate into our society defeat this important and necessary ingredient of the American way of life.
A person whose first act upon coming to the United States is to break our laws, and cause undue stress to our legal, medical and social systems isn’t the kind of person we are looking for.
The borders need to be sealed off to undocumented aliens from anywhere.
However we also need to streamline legal immigration to make it easier and quicker for good candidates to assimilate into American society. We want motivated active people from wherever they come from. We need to set some goals for people wanting to be Americans. (Isn’t that great? People want to become Americans).
Basic milestones like learning English within the first year or 18 months.
Be able to show and use marketable and legal skills; deny welfare benefits for 10 years, and no dual-citizenships.
Current illegal aliens (Criminal aliens) need to go home and re-apply.
No anchor babies, if the child is an American citizen, we will care for it, otherwise take it home and apply legally.
Permanently deport illegal aliens with gang or other criminal connections and their families.
Increase visas for highly skilled workers seeking to be citizens.
Ban any government involvement or funding with groups whose basis for existing is based on race.
Military
Increase pay across all pay scales, increase benefits and bonuses. No UN control of US troops ever. Allow relocated and eliminated government employees to lateral into appropriate positions. Encourage long term careers in military. All military armament is to be made in the United States. If existing military contractors cannot fulfill this requirement, new industry needs to be encouraged to apply to the now difficult process and enough manufacturing infrastructure kept in place for possible use in time of war.
Either greatly improve VA medical services, or buy private insurance/expand Tri-Care for our vets.
International Trade
Free trade is the ideal, but if we get the short stick with a country, then we need to default to fair trade, enacting similar restrictions imposed on us, and imposing tariffs severe enough to get prompt attention.
I don’t have a use for the UN, if we stay with it, we need to play a much heavier hand.
Criminal justice
Enact Federal 3-strikes law. Allow incentives for states to follow suit. Create 1 strike law for violent sex-crimes, and crimes against children requiring federal attention. Crimes involving gang activities need to be federalized, and included.
Build low-cost, no frills and private prisons. Allow for long-term solitary for violent prisoners posing a threat to correctional officers. It is not "cruel and unusual punishment" to actually be punished. Create incentives for states to follow suit. Greatly limit inmate interaction in secure facilities. Guard safety is to be considered above prisoner comfort.
Non violent offenders should be given large fines and face property seizures instead of incarceration to save cell space and reduce costs. Make selling illegal drugs to minors a federal crime requiring large fines and long-term community service/incarceration.
Federal judges are appointed at the suggestion of the president during that president’s term, congress approves these appointments.
Frequently congress holds these appointments hostage, greatly backing up legal proceedings.
I would suggest that congress forfeit their pay during times when appointments are unduly held up.
An up/down vote needs to be scheduled for these judges quickly. A qualification background check can be completed without much trouble. For a federal judge candidate this shouldn't take very long.
An alternative system needs to be set up to lessen the load in the traditional court system. Mediation and other user-pays systems that solve civil complaints should be encouraged outside the typical legal system. Jury pay needs to be increased to a level that offsets lost pay. This increase is to be paid by a fee charged by court to both parties.
The Castle doctrine needs to be federally recognized.
Health care
I support the 340 million payer system.
Require itemized billing, easy access to lists of typical cost of services for consumers. Electronic health records are great until the government decides to limit access to heath care based on them. Secure limits need to be placed on the Government, and health insurance companies. Patient health and wishes should be the primary focus of any doctor, not whether a government or HMO accountant approves. Allow insurance to sold across state lines.
Encourage personal health insurance with tax credits. Limit insurance control on doctor’s decisions. Phase out government-controlled insurance programs replaced with state subsidized group insurance policies. Encourage people to take care of themselves, not rely on the rest of us to take care of them.
Penalize destructive behavior that creates expensive medical conditions. Higher taxes on cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco to offset medical costs.
Allow insurance companies to deny levels of care, and non-life threatening treatments to patients failing a drug test.
Taxes
Flat tax option, phasing out current system, eliminate withholding, make people pay quarterly, until constitution can be amended to allow for fair tax. If we are still going to have an IRS, the tax form should be simple, free of loopholes, limited to a few pages, easy to fill out and dispute. No "tax cuts" for people who don't pay any taxes. I would take advantage of the greatly reduced federal government, and its reduced budget, and cap any federal tax rate to less than 10%. be it fair tax or flat tax. Obviously in times of war congress could raise additional money, but they are limited to two years by the constitution.
God asks for 10% , who does the government think they are asking for 60%?
