We the people.
What does that mean these days? Do "we the people" have the power and resources our founding fathers intended?
Today Government at the federal level has been greatly removed from the average citizen's control, yet government control over the average citizen's life has greatly increased.
First and foremost I'm an American Constitutionalist. I believe that the foundation laid down by our founders is still valid, and we should be restoring that foundation, not throwing it away. The Americans, who founded this great country, didn’t intend for corrupt politicians to use the federal government against the people, in fact they took great care to keep that from happening. However, in the past century, politicians have usurped the nation away from its rightful owners, and are using our great institutions for their own purposes. I wish to help change that.
I am running as an Independent because I no longer believe that there is enough difference between the two major parties to make much difference. Both parties are seemingly more interested in maintaining and gaining more power for the parties, than serving the People who own the country.
In a nutshell, I think our federal government has grown well beyond the scope intended by our founding documents.
I think extra-constitutional activities need to be reserved for the several states or the people, as is stated in the 10th Amendment. The sheer size and scope of government needs to be trimmed down considerably.
I support the enumerated powers act, If passed it would cite what part of the Constitution allows for every bill passed by congress, and if not would say that too. I would not vote for any bill that exceeds the powers given the federal government by the Constitution.
I believe that the United States of America is an exceptional and unique institution in world history, and attempts to bring us down to standards and norms common to places around the world, are only subtle attempts to degrade us as a nation.
Why Elect an Independent Candidate?
Congressmen elected with a political party are usually beholden to the party, and as witnessed by the interview between former Rep. Massa and Glenn Beck, They owe their time and energy to the party most of the time. Hours spent in call centers begging for money, and less hours spent representing their people. I wouldn't want to represent a party first, I wouldn't be elected by a party, but by citizens, so citizens must come first.
We will be electing a freshman Representative regardless of who it is, why send a good guy in, just to be sidelined by a party?
