We the people.
What does that mean these days? Do "we the people" have the power and resources our founding fathers intended?
Today Government at the federal level has been greatly removed from the average citizen's control, yet government control over the average citizen's life has greatly increased.
I am running for Congress in Missouri's 7th district in 2010. First and foremost I'm an American Constitutionalist. I believe that the foundation laid down by our founders is still valid, and we should be restoring that foundation, not throwing it away. The Americans who founded this great country, didn't intend for corrupt politicians to use the federal government against the people, in fact they took great care to keep that from happening. However in the past century, politicians have usurped the nation away from its rightful owners, and are using our great institutions for their own purposes. I wish to help change that.
Currently I am still gathering signatures for ballot access, but I am well ahead of my goals, and am confident I will have plenty of extras, I am Running as an Independent because I no longer believe that there is enough difference between the two major parties to make much difference. Both parties are seemingly more interested in maintaining and gaining more power for the parties, than serving the People who own the country.
In a nutshell, I think our federal government has grown beyond the scope intended by our founding documents.
I think extra-constitutional activities need to be reserved for the several states, and the sheer size and scope of government needs to be pared down considerably.
I believe that the United states of America is an exceptional and unique institution in world history, and attempts to bring us down to standards and norms common to places around the world, are only subtle attempts to degrade us as a nation.

Another idea I support is to keep your Representative at home in their district most of the time. Most of what Congress does can be done remotely. The Constitution only demands attendance one day a year. it would be cheaper and better for the citizens if members of congress stayed home and telecommuted for most activities.

"Should I be elected, I solemnly pledge to my constituents that I will consistently vote to defund, or vote against appropriating any money for, any federal program or activity not specifically authorized by an enumerated power in the United States Constitution. For any federal program or activity I do vote to fund, I will provide the specific enumerated power constitutionally permitting it."
